To soften the putty, heat it with a hair dryer. You can apply caulk over the putty, but it’s best to roughen the surface slightly. Since caulk doesn’t stick well to putty, make sure it touches other surfaces it can adhere to. Siliconized caulk worked well for me.

My bird bath started leaking after years of exposure. I tried various sealers without luck. My wife found this putty, and it worked perfectly. I cleaned the surfaces, applied the putty, and put the fountain back together. After waiting 24 hours, it was dry as a bone. I’ll definitely use this product again.

I easily cut a section into three strips with scissors. It’s pliable and stays in place when pushed into gaps without being sticky. It stretches like playdough and is easy to use. Great for sealing small exterior gaps between pipes and siding.
